i did some research on interactive garment and they are all innovative. some of the garment are hard to tell they are interactive till garment in action (light, movement).
some garment shows emotions with different colour light, musical body garment and gloves and garment sense movement to improve performances.
here are some material i could use for my garment.
i really like use of paper and wood, since we are using electronics it will be nice to use organic material.
if i only use paper it will be hard to keep shape, fabric is too soft and plastic look too artificial.
i think wood will be suitable material, it's hard so it will hold shape well, and gives contrasting use of material could be very interesting.
keyboard hacking.
test garment
Multiple rings different shape and size
i have found it is hard to hold them together, i need to make some kind of reinforcement to hold shape and each ring but still able to move inside garment.
Making garment
chosen material wood
i have to stem and iron wood so it will change shape with out breaking.

Reflective statement
Every time when I get an assignment I get very excited. But when it came to making an interactive garment I found it rather challenging. The most difficult part of this assignment was trying to turn my ideas into reality. I had many great ideas but I knew it was impossible for me to make some of ideas real. With limited funds, time and a limited knowledge of software. During the study break I did a lot of research and came out with a concept for my garment. Using organic materials to create an interactive garment, and using a strait jack as the base of my idea, I wanted to show restrictions in life and the choices you make in your movement. Working with paper-thin wood was very time consuming. I had to steam and iron the wood in order to change the shape; I also had problems when some of the joints were breaking. Attaching the keyboard module was a difficult decision; I needed to think about how the body moves inside the garment and how I would be able to activate the triggers. I am happy with the out come of my garment, if I had more time I would refine my garment to have a more solid structure as well as finishing it with varnish. Otherwise, I feel it shows my idea and tells the story that I wanted to tell.
