Drawing Machine

now we have a task of making art, but we have to use Mindstorm Robot and sensor to guide it.
Interactive Drawing Machine

Research
when i though about drawing machine first thing popped into my head was paint.
ballon filled with paint and robot will launch sharp object to pop a ballon.

Drawing machine: drawing sond in the air

our group had though of using light to draw picture and make  three art.

 group idea

draw path of journey we been through last 4 weeks.
maybe Robot is lost from the mother ship.
feeling.

learning

Robot showing emotion through art work, how

we could make sound use sound sensor
show colour and use colour sensor
make colour building and use sonic and colour sensor
show face to learn emotion and use sound sensor : if robot is learning how to show learning???????

can use use any light when we are taking photos(we will be using long exposure) can use sonic(too dark) maybe sound..............

try out

Now we have explored all the different types of light and different time exposure.
Our group was very happy with outcome of the photos but showing photos as they are seems bit boring.
Developing photos
How we can show these like motion?
How motions work
What happens when you are happy, angry and sad?
What do we do?
When I am angry, it’s bit like volcano. Something will trigger my anger and it build up and boooooooom.
How can I show this through artwork.

After spending many hours front of the computer here is my out come.
can you guess what emotions they are?

Reflective statement

Drawing art with a machine was a very interesting assignment. At the start of the assignment we were working as a group, brain storming with very different ideas. Trying to find some kind of way to relate to each other was very time consuming. We researched many different artists and different styles of artwork with the hope of finding some common ground.
Once we had a good idea of how we wanted to show emotion through lights and the movement of the robot, we faced many issue while working with the robot. Issues faced were; the program, sensor and unpredictable movement. We also had to contend with having very limited time in which we could do tests with long exposure photography. But, we thought this could be part of our interaction with the robot. How it really tested us with each emotion, invoking anger, making us sad and happy.
Once all the work was done we talked with Kim about our idea and how we could develop our idea further. Making it interesting was the most challenging part of this assignment. With further research we came up with our final three drawings and gained a lot better understanding of emotions and presentation.
